  • 17th Century Villa San Lorenzo in the Alta Langa

  • 7 Suites + 8 Full Bathrooms, Air conditioning, WiFi, private Swimming Pool, Pizza Oven and BBQ

One hour from Torino, escape into the bucolic hills of Piedmont. This beautiful 17th Century stone villa sits on 5.6 hectares (fourteen acres) at an altitude of 600 meters (2000 feet) near the small village of Bonvicino and four miles from Dogliani, in the heart of Piedmont, Italy. Villa San Lorenzo is a unique location providing incredible views of the Italian Alps, lots of privacy, and it is the perfect base for exploring the Piemonte region. The property is completely private, nestled in the Alta Langa hills. Just minutes from town (cafes, restaurants, shopping, cinema), you will feel peacefully secluded on this spacious property. During the Summer, guests can pick fresh tomatoes, zucchini, egg plants, figs, apples, cherries, and blackberries just outside your front door.

Enjoy walking through Italian hill towns and vineyards, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site towns of Barolo, Monforte D’Alba, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Verduno, Barbaresco, and Neive.  Visit the larger town of Alba and sample white and black truffles. Sit on the balcony, sipping your morning coffee or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset while gazing out at the rugged and lush green mountain landscape. On clear days, enjoy spectacular views of the Alps. Our aim is to provide a beautiful oasis for vacationers seeking delicious food and wine, lovely hikes, authentic villages while enjoying a slower pace of life.

Villa San Lorenzo underwent a full renovation and was completed between 2019 in 2024, including all new bathrooms, and a brand new gourmet chef’s kitchen with every detail for the seasoned chef in mind. All new Queen and King size beds, restored antique furnishings, air conditioning in every bedroom, high-speed internet, and a new pool surrounded by seasonal flowers and a vegetable garden.

Modern conveniences are combined with the antiquity of this centuries old farmhouse. Furnishings combine comfort in keeping with the style of the region and preservation of the Villa. There are 7 Suites (5 Suites with King Size Beds, 1 Suite with a Queen Size Bed, and 1 Suite with the choice of 2 Single Beds or 1 King Size Bed), while each of the Suites have their own private bathroom. There are a total of 8 modern bathrooms in total, 4 with a separate clawfoot bath and shower, and 4 with only showers.

The villa includes a large chef’s kitchen with a 6 gas-burner stove, dishwasher, 2 sinks, a filtered water system with sparkling, cold, and room temperature on tap. There is 1 large dining room off the kitchen with floor to ceiling windows and 1 large living room with very comfortable sofas upstairs and many books to peruse. The property offers privacy, spectacular views in a beautiful peaceful setting. Perfect for a family or a group of friends.

I love to bake bread and pizza so I added a wood-fired traditional brick oven for pizza and bread way back in 2007 and a brand new barbecue grill attached to the oven in 2022.  Guests are invited to swim in the 11 x 5 meter (36 feet x 16.5 feet) swimming pool with a view of Murazzano and the Italian Alps or enjoy a wonderful feast at the stone table overlooking the hills of the Alta Langa.

We can arrange cooking classes in the gorgeous chef’s kitchen, or we can help to hire a private chef who can prepare a fantastic local meal at the Villa. Local cuisine offers fresh regional dishes based on seasonal ingredients.  For a lunch or dinner out, we can provide guests with a selected list of the region's many delicious restaurants. Food is our passion and our work, Clay has photographed a dozen cookbooks in Italy, France, and the USA.

The nearby town of Alba (35 minutes) is known as the home of the famous white truffle with a 2 month festival from mid October until mid December. Bra prides itself on being the heart of the Slow Food movement as its eponymous headquarters are located there.  Nearby Cherasco is known for its famous chocolate, as well as offering a cultural museum, a museum of magic, and film retrospectives. Dogliani offers a choice of cafes and wine bars where you can sample homemade gelati, enjoy a cappuccino or the famous Dolcetto wine, called Dogliani like the town.

Visit the farmer’s market in a different local town each day of the week. Take a walk or drive to Bossolasco to sample their famous chocolates and stare out at the breathtaking views stretching over the entire region. You may want to take a trip down to the Italian Riviera near Savona on the Ligurian Coast or to the Alps for skiing or hiking, both about an hour's drive away. Cinque Terre, Nice, and Milan are approximately two hours away.

All linens provided.  Daily or weekly cleaning available at additional cost.
